The Moviment de Disseny Emergent (MoDE) is an ADCV project open to anyone under the age of 35 in the design sector who is also a member of the association. This initiative brings together emerging professionals who want to discuss the future of design and define lines of action to improve employment integration, stability in the sector and access to real opportunities.
It is a meeting point for those starting out in the world of design from which to share concerns, network and build community. Those who form part of MoDE want to highlight the work of emerging professions, promote a collaborative and inclusive culture and understand design as a critical and transformative tool.
MoDE arises as a response to structural problems that affect the profession: precariousness, ageism, lack of opportunities, professional atomisation and disconnection between generations. In response to this, the ADCV is committed to opening up spaces for dialogue, investigating new disciplines and ways of doing things, and strengthening ties between those who share the same critical view of design.
At MoDE, design is understood as an activity deeply linked to social, economic and cultural processes. That is why we defend the need to renew it, moving away from the classic industrial model and orienting it towards a more sustainable, just and inhabited future.
MoDE is developed from and with the ADCV, recognising its role as an agent of sectorial organisation with a vocation for public service. Its actions are aimed at facilitating labour integration, making young talent visible, promoting intergenerational activities, creating informal education programmes and activating funding channels for cultural, research and innovation projects in design.
Its objectives, defined in the Manifiesto del Moviment, are:
➤To facilitate the labour integration of emerging professionals.
➤To carry out actions that promote young talent to facilitate access to professional opportunities.
➤Create recurring events that promote intergenerational networking between professionals.
➤Create an informal education programme around new responsible practices in design.
➤Generate a platform to direct different types of funds to cultural, innovation and research projects in design.
From the ADCV, and specifically from the MoDE project, we believe in the power of design as an engine of change, and we want to build, collectively, a more dignified present and a more hopeful future for all the people who practice it from the margins or from the beginnings.
